Sodium Carbonate

Sodium Carbonate is also known by the names soda ash, washing soda and soda crystals.  Historically it was extracted from the ashes of of plants growing in sodium rich soil.  Some of the common applications are a cleansing agent for washing clothing, used to softening water, and used in the manufacturing of glass, soap and water.
