Castor Oil

Castor oil is a thick odorless oil extracted from the seeds of the castor plant.  It is rich in fatty acids that moisturize the skin.  Studies show that applying castor oil to the skin reduces pain and swelling caused by inflammation.  Although research is ongoing, studies have suggested that castor oil is potentially more effective in reducing arthritis symptoms than prescription topical treatments. 

Fun Fact: Queen Cleopatra reportedly believed castor oil would brighten the whites in her eyes!
