Beeswax
Beeswax
Beeswax is one of the oldest skincare ingredients and is still used today due to its natural skincare benefits. Honey bees use beeswax to protect and store honey, pollen, and eggs laid by the queen. bees need to consume 6 pounds of honey to produce just 1 pound of beeswax!
Beeswax forms a natural barrier on the skin, protecting it from environmental irritants and harsh weather. It is well knows for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is one of the best skin softening ingredients. Although the removal of beeswax from hives doesn't directly harm the bees involved, it is considered a vegetarian substance, and not a vegan ingredient.
Fun fact!!! a set of teeth from the new stone age were found in Australia with beeswax fillings, making it a 6,650 year old form of dental filling!
